Kanye West Album Covers to Grace Silk Scarves

The duo, who originally supplied an illustrative letterset that adorned Condo's paintings in the album's liner notes, asked 'Ye if he would be interested in having the images turned into silk scarves, a request to which he acquiesced.
Augustyniak and Amzalaq, who described working with West as "a complex exploration of power," are creating a limited edition of 250 garments -- 50 for each of the five designs -- with the scarves measuring at a square meter in size. The finished products will be sold beginning this spring at Colette and on Mmparis.com.

For the past few days the weather here in Toronto has been rather confused. One moment it's snowing to the point where I'm tempted to bust out my copy of White Christmas and a Yule log, and the next it's merrily raining, as a hint of soft daffodil yellow sun attempts to squeeze through the curvaceous concrete hued clouds. Really though, the weather is just being a shinning example of March in Canada, as it straddles the two seasons, working valiantly to finally shake off the wrath of winter.
Soon (one can hope) the sting of winter will be gone for good (well, at least for a few months!) and spring will finally bounce back into town, bringing with it plenty more days filled with rain, rain, and...oh what's the word again? Rain! 
As such, it's high time to start thinking about umbrellas (especially for those like myself who don't have a car to help protect us from the elements). These days there?s nothing short of a plethora of different umbrella styles on the market, yet my tastes run more to the classic looks that seem as though they could have been plucked from the pages of a vintage fashion magazine.
Recently I spied the most delightful white and mint green umbrella on the site (fittingly enough!) umbrellas.net. It's timelessly lines, 16 rib construction, and dark green faux leather handle all add up to the sort of understatedly gorgeous umbrella that is as effortlessly chic, and wonderfully timeless as the LBD.
This sophisticated ivory white and green Sonnet Stick Umbrella sells for $85.00, and is the soft of charmingly beautiful number I could easily picture the sophisticated likes of Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly covering their perfectly coiffed hair with as they faced the predictably unpredictable nature of spring in all its rainy glory.
Likewise it is just the thing to help see any modern day vintage fashionista (whether she lives in Seattle, London, Vancouver, Dublin, or any other rainy city) through this wet and wild season, too.

Sharon Stone's Sister To Host Charity Casino Night
Planet Hope – the charity founded by Sharon Stone and her sister, Kelly Stone-Singer – will hold a special fundraising “Casino Night in Old Hollywood” event on April 9 as part of the Downtown Boca Film Festival.
Hosted by Kelly and Michael Stone, the evening will include:
- Silent & Live Auction in conjunction with Hamilton Art & Auction and Celebrity Auctioneer, Janice Hamilton
- Food provided by South Florida’s Best Restaurants
- Complimentary Cocktail Hour
- Casino Night Provided by “A Hot Party”
- Entertainment Provided by “44th Street”
“This evening will make an important contribution to the Palm Beach County community through Planet Hope’s programs,” said Kelly Stone-Singer. “Planet Hope has chosen to contribute a percentage of the money raised locally to provide prom dresses and sneakers to local children in need. Planet Hope was founded in 1993 by my sister Sharon Stone and I. Our programs have helped change the lives of thousands of homeless, abused and at risk children worldwide. I hope that you will honor our family, Planet Hope and the many deserving children in need within the Palm Beach County community by participating with the upcoming Downtown Boca Film Festival by attending or providing a donation that can be utilized for the silent auction or raffle prize giveaways.”
Planet Hope programs offer gratis medical and dental care, new clothes for kids, counseling and image make overs for homeless women and women that have been victims of domestic violence.
The event takes place at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Centre, 201 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, FL. Tickets are $50 in advance, $65 after April 4.

Timothy Bloom on Being 'Naked' and 'Life Without Music'

Timothy Bloom is as talented as he is good looking -- and that's saying something. Charming as this combination may be, Bloom manages to remain humble. Raised in his father's church in Fayetteville, N.C., his musical style is influenced by the gospel music he was immersed in as a child, and rock's secular greats -- including Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye and Jimi Hendrix -- whom he discovered during a period of adolescent rebellion. The result of this amalgamation of influences is a sound that you'd be hard-pressed to define with traditional genre labels.
The multi-talented musician admittedly feels "naked" on stage without his guitar, but had no problem stripping down to his birthday suit and showing off his ripped body in a beautifully simple video for his single, 'Til the End of Time' featuring V. Bozeman. As the video generates buzz for Bloom and his debut album, 'Life Without Music,' set for a June 2011 release, he is no industry newbie. He released the EP, 'The Budding Rose,' earlier this month, won a Grammy for Ne-Yo's 'Say It,' and already has collaborations with the legendary Smokey Robinson and a production cred on Chris Brown's new album 'F.A.M.E.' under his belt. A seasoned vet, it's now Bloom's solo career that deserves the limelight.

'The Bachelor' finale: Brad makes a decision
I haven't been following this season of The Bachelor all that closely. A number of my friends who have been watching have all been rooting for one outcome: for him to pick Emily.
I'll link to the Showtracker's full recap tomorrow, but if you are seeking an early look at what happened, here it is. (SPOILER ALERT)
After visiting with his family and talking extensively with them, Brad did indeed to propose, and it was indeed to Emily.
What do you think about these developments?
Edited to add: I'm coming back after seeing the "after the rose" special to ask if anyone else was totally put off by people's reactions to Emily? When she admitted that she wasn't ready to get married today, and the audience recoiled in shock (with an "ooooooooh"), I kind of couldn't believe it. They haven't been able to be in public together until now. Why would she want to get married to someone she hasn't even been out to dinner with in a regular setting? I thought she was being perfectly reasonable -- and nervous to be under such scrutiny. But the whole setup became so awkward, and it didn't need to be.
And while it was nice to bring back the successful Bachelor couples to give them advice, it just felt a little premature to be deciding that the relationship was in trouble. She has a child! She has a responsibility to be sure this is the right thing to do before going through with it. I was just beyond irritated with the premise that she was doing something wrong or acting inappropriately.

Spotlight: Hilary Duff's Charity Work
Hilary was a charter member for Kids With A Cause, through which she visits children in hospitals, escorts disadvantaged youth to theme parks and helps with fundraising efforts.
Duff is the Youth Ambassador for Return To Freedom.
When asked to get involved with Return To Freedom she said, “I think its really important to give back to your community and it makes you feel so good to get involved with a charity. I look up to people who are involved with organizations that help people and animals.”

Chris Brown Finally Catches A Break
All I can say is, FINALLY!
Two years after "the incident" with Rihanna, Chris has been trying to rebuild his career and image. His latest album F.A.M.E is said to be heading to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts.
If sales hold up, it would give the singer his first No. 1 album, Billboard said.
Chris had apologised for his recent outburst at TV talk show where the host quizzed him about the assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
"When the interview proceeded, I was thrown off," Chris told a radio station in a new interview. "I felt like, OK, they told us this to get us on the show and exploit me. I took it very, very hard. I kept my composure throughout the whole interview...And when I got back, I just let off, like, steam in the back. I didn't physically hurt anyone. I just wanted to release the anger inside me. I felt like I worked so hard for this music."
Looks like your hard work is paying off... now just don't go screw it up again.

There are few topics in the whole universe that I love and devote my time to as much as history. From the earliest of ages, I've been enamoured with the past; insatiably curious to know what happened during the lifetimes of those who walked this earth before me. My love of all things vintage is an extension of the general adoration for history that I have, and indeed writing about historical events and figures is by far one of my favourite elements of creating this blog.
I'm always on the prowl for great sources of historical information and trivia (include who was born and who passed away on a certain date), and recently discovered a super handy Canadian On This Day website that lists numerous interesting historical facts for each day of the year - all of which have a Canadian slant to them.
{Amongst the various events that have taken place in Canadian history on March 22nd, one finds the birth in 1909 of the highly influential, prolific French Canadian author, Gabrielle Roy, whose ground-breaking novel Bonheur d'occasion (published in English as The Tin Flute), set in Montreal, is sometimes credited for laying the foundation for Quebec's Quiet Revolution in the 1960s. So great was Roy's impact on Canadian culture and history, that a quote from her, "Could we ever know each other in the slightest without the arts?", appears (in both English and French) on the back of the Canadian $20 bill, as a wonderful reminder for future generation of this insightful Canadian author.}
While the events that took place some dates may not always be earth-shatteringly interesting, others certainly are, and together they all work together to help weave the rich tapestry that is Canadian history.
If like me you can never get enough of the past and enjoy learning fun facts about Canadian history, than be sure to bop on over On This Day and bookmark it for any time you want to look up what happened on a particular day in this vast, delightful land of ours called Canada.

'The Amazing Race' recap: U-turnabout is fair play
Bucky reports on last night's Amazing Race, with a double U-Turn and a pretty complicated Roadblock:
We’re back to finish the unfinished business left over from last week’s episode of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. When last we visited, the first six teams had been sent along their way on a continuation leg, Zev & Justin were racing to what they assumed would be the Pit Stop and the Goths, Kent & Vyxsin, had just discovered they were without their fanny pack, passports and money.
This week opens with Zev & Justin finishing, getting their clue and finding out a Double U-Turn lay ahead on the continuation leg. In a short amount of (air) time, the Goths retrieve their fanny pack, complete the rest of last week’s leg and arrive at the Pit Stop.
The bad news for the Goths is that Phil tells them they will have a 30-minute penalty, at the end of the leg, for not taking the required flight last week. The good news is that the clue sends the racers to the train station where, we learn, the next train leaves in seven hours.
