Pirates 5 Script Ready But Johnny Depp Wants A Break

Back so soon?
Back so soon?

Even though Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides does not come out until later this month, the script for the fifth installment of the franchise has already been turned in, says The Hollywood Reporter.

To date, Pirates has been Disney's most lucrative franchise so it is a no-brainer for them to want another film in the works as soon as possible. Pirates 4, which will be in 3D, is expected to be a huge box office success along the lines of the first three films.

However, Johnny Depp, who plays the main character, Jack Sparrow, is not too keen on reprising his role so soon. He has not signed on the dotted line to make No. 5 but he is not opposed to coming back as the good captain.

"It boils down to story, script and filmmaker," Johnny, who has not yet seen the new script, says. "It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012.' We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me."

Yep, it's probably a good idea to take a bit of a break! In any case, read up on Pirates 4 and a whole bunch of other blockbusters headed our way in the 1 - 16 May issue of Galaxie.
